DITO hits 4M subscribers

November 9, 2021

DITO Telecommunity hauled in four million subscribers as of November 8, 2021, Chief Administrative Officer Adel Tamano announced.

“It was only in March of 2021 that DITO began commercial operations. We hit our one-millionth subscriber in just a matter of months in June, and now after more than four months, hit our four-millionth ahead of schedule,” he elaborated.

“We are well on track to hit our five-million subscriber target by end of 2021,” according to Tamano.

So far, DITO Telecommunity has constructed over 3,300 cell towers, and aims to complete 4,500 towers by the end of the year.

Its service is already available to more than 50-percent of the Philippine population and this month, the telco will add another 34 areas nationwide.

On November 5, DITO started servicing Mabinay, Negros Oriental; Tagbilaran City, Cortes and Baclayon, Bohol; Oslob and Carmen, Cebu.

The telco also started operating in the City of Himamaylan, Negros Occidental; San Antonio, Nueva Ecija; Orion, Bataan as well as Arayat, Minalin, Porac and Floridablanca, Pampanga.

On November 12 DITO will start services in Apalit and Masantol, Pampanga; Pugo, Bauang and Cabaa, La Union; Burgos, Umingan and Asingan, Pangasinan; Camalaniugan and Lal-lo, Cagayan; Hermosa, Bataan; Gumaca, Plaridel and Macalelon, Quezon; Mabini, Batangas; Lumban, Laguna; Santa Elena, Camarines Norte; San Fernando, Camarines Sur; City of Talisay, Negros Occidental, as well as Baco and Socorro, Oriental Mindoro.

In the October 2021 Mobile Network Experience Report for the Philippines, DITO ranked first on 4G availability, outperforming both entrenched competitors.

The report, released by Opensignal, an independent global standard firm analyzed consumer experience on wireless networks, used data collected from July 1 to September 28 2021.

“(Our) Filipino users on DITO spent the most amount of time connected to 4G — an impressive 97.5% — and therefore the new operator is the winner of the 4G Availability award,” the report stated.

“DITO has put an end to Smart’s three-report long streak as an outright winner and also stopped Smart from achieving a second clean sweep of our award table.”
